Dr. Annie Vemu is a Senior Associate at Longwood Fund where she is involved in creating and supporting portfolio companies. Annie was previously an associate at Flagship Pioneering where she worked on conceiving life science companies.

Annie received her PhD at the National Institutes of Health through the Johns Hopkins/NIH Graduate partnership program. Her research focused on understanding how microtubules, polymers essential for basic cellular processes such as cell division, intracellular transport, and morphogenesis, are regulated. Her graduate work resulted in multiple first author publications in several peer-reviewed journals. Prior to her graduate studies, Annie was a post-baccalaureate research Fellow at the NIH where she worked on understanding how post-translational modifications impact cytoskeletal dynamics. She earned a M.S. in Chemistry and B.S. in Biochemistry/Chemistry from University of California, San Diego.
