Dr. Lizzie Ngo is a Principal at Longwood Fund, where she is involved in creating and supporting portfolio companies. She has been a Co-Founder of several companies at Longwood, including Photys Therapeutics, where she also served as Startup VP of Strategy & Operations, and Weaver Biosciences, where she is Acting President.
Dr. Ngo was previously an Associate at Flagship Pioneering and was a co-founder of several Flagship ventures. She received her PhD from MIT in Biological Engineering under the supervision of Professors Leona Samson and Bevin Engelward. As part of her PhD research, Dr. Ngo developed high-throughput assays for quantitation of DNA damage and repair and applied them to assess individuals’ cancer susceptibility. Her graduate work resulted in publications in several peer-reviewed journals, a pending patent, and multiple awards from the Environmental Mutagenesis & Genomics Society and the MIT Center of Environmental Health Sciences. Prior to her doctorate, she received her B.A. in Genetics with a minor in Mathematics from Rutgers University, where she graduated summa cum laude and was named the top graduating student in her class.
